Socialising your dog IS important!

Why is socialising your dog important?

From birth up to six months old your dog is at its most important stage in its life for learning, your dog will pick up every good habit snd bad habit at this stage and more than likely your puppy will keep this on board for a lifetime.

At this stage it’s incredibly important to encourage the following:

  • Socialising with both humans and dogs
  • Lead training
  • Command training
  • Recall training
  • Routine ( dogs love routines )
  • Sleeping habits
  • Obedience

And basically to like everything that’s good for them...

Helping a puppy/ dog to socialise more so a puppy at a very early age with many breeds, sizes, weights and ages of dogs will help your beloved fur baby to learn to be around dogs, it will teach them how to react and not react, how to play with many different types of dogs, they will pick up fantastic habits from others especially re call if surrounded by great dogs. Socialising is fantastic for stimulation and just genuinely letting of that extra steam your dog builds up throughout the day - the kind of steam that pushes your dog to do naughty things out of frustration and been bored. Dogs will also absolutely have fun and more than likely will create companions for life - they really learn how to play.

Letting your dog of the lead for the first time is ridiculously daunting, don’t worry we have all been there. The running off, not listening, pinching peoples treats and maybe even becoming a ball thief from another family - yikes. But don’t let this encourage you to give in for an easy life, keeping your dog on a lead isn’t healthy but also bad manners and no training isn’t neither so also encouraging training in a big space on your own for a bit is a great idea, group walks are a great idea and puppy classes too ( if your dog has passed the puppy stage I’m sure there is plenty of obedience classes out there.

So what can you do to help your dog/puppy become the best socialised and happy dog ever? Book them into group dog walks with your dog Walker that is close to you.

We offer both individual and group dog walking services that includes a small bit of training within our walks, book a complimentary induction with us today to find out how we can help you :)
